Seed 15: Synthesis and Characterization of Biphasic Layered 2D Materials for Improved Ionic Transport and Capacity in Electrochemical Systems

This Seed seeks to investigate materials that combine amorphous and crystalline components as novel battery electrodes. Previously, artificial composites combining both amorphous and crystalline components have been used to increase the voltage window in which cycling is reversible. This Seed studies methods to generate such biphasic materials in situ, via soft-chemical modification of layered materials. Those materials will then be tested as electrode materials in Li, Na and Mg batteries.
